Middle Years

In the middle years at St Mary’s, students experience a supported step up in both their learning and personal development. During this important stage, they continue strengthening their academic skills while discovering their personal interests, embracing leadership opportunities and developing strong Student Agency through collaborative learning experiences.

Students build on their literacy and numeracy foundations with growing independence and depth. Reading and writing tasks require deeper comprehension and critical thinking, while mathematics places a strong emphasis on problem-solving, reasoning and applying skills to real-world situations.

Through rich Inquiry learning, students are encouraged to question, research and explore ideas together, expanding their understanding of the world around them.

Social and Emotional Learning remains a priority, helping students build confidence, respond positively to challenges and develop respectful, supportive relationships as they prepare for the senior years.

Badenhorst (1)_edited.jpg

"From the very beginning, we have been made to feel welcome and included, and the care and dedication shown to our children is genuinely inspiring. We wanted a school where our kids would feel happy, safe, and supported while receiving an excellent education - and St Mary's has delivered exactly that.

We deeply value the St Mary's Way, as it reflects and strengthens the same principles we uphold at home. Everything the school does is thoughtful, intentional, and centred on the wellbeing and growth of the students.

We are incredibly grateful to be part of the St Mary's community.
